Psychophysiology

Participants of the Police Stress and Health Program are asked to complete Psychophysiology Testing at the beginning and end of the study. Depending on the Time Point, the Psychophysiology Appointment can last anywhere between 1.5 to 3 hours in duration.

During Psychophysiology, the research assistant will measure the participant's:

  • Heart rate
  • Respiration
  • Sweat gland activity
  • Eye blink activity
  • Stress hormone (saliva)

while the participant watches a Critical Incident video and listens to sounds through headphones.
