Thomas Neylan, MD
Medical DirectorThomas Neylan, M.D., is the Medical Director of the Police Stress and Health Program.
Dr. Neylan also serves as the Medical Director of the PTSD Research Program at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco. For the past 10 years, he has been actively involved in the study of posttraumatic stress. Dr. Neylan has several research projects examining the biology of PTSD, with a particular focus on sleep disturbance and stress hormone functioning.
Dr. Neylan has published numerous articles and received several awards for his lectures in PTSD and sleep disorders. He serves on the scientific review board for the National Institutes of Health, Behavioral and Biobehavioral Processes Study Section.
